EXCELLENT Based on 40 reviews Posted on Google Susheel BrahmeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Red white and blue construction was a solid trusted contractor for us. They were straightforward and fair from the beginning till the end. Josh, the owner and his team are driven by on-time of the job completion and take responsibility of their work. The framing specialists were able tackle any on the job changes professionally. Tiling, plumbing and detailing work was done with patience and focus on functionality and long term reliability. Ricardo is a very personable project manager and was able to accommodate our schedules and timings. I recommend RWB for anyone who would want to take on a sizeable project that needs the expertise and knowledge with adherence to the scope and being in budget.Posted on Google Ron BruckertTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After contacting at least seven different companies to remodel our home, Red, White, and Blue was the obvious choice. Albert and the team assisted with the design of the space and offered cost-effective suggestions. Luis and the crew were punctual, respectful, and kept the workspace clean throughout the process. Furthermore, we are pleased that the project was finished on time and remained within our budget. We could not be happier with the excellent results!Posted on Google Sonia MahirTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We hired Red White and Blue Construction in Berkeley for a complete kitchen remodel that involved removing two structural walls, adding a shear wall, and reworking the layout. The finished kitchen looks great and feels open and comfortable. They offered fair pricing on every change request we made and found smart, creative solutions for the tricky parts of the project. The craftsmanship and attention to detail show in the final result. We’re very pleased with how everything came together.Posted on Google Diane ZylkaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The budget went from an initial $90,000 to $250,000. Red walked off the job. We had to pay another company to tear down and reconstruct our timber tech fence. Additionally parts of the build were left unpainted and three gates had to be replained and rehung as they would not close.Posted on Google Jessie HernandezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently remodeled our bathroom and could not be happier. Josh and his team handled everything—plumbing, electrical, tiling, and installation—and the finished space is beautiful. One of the best parts of working with this company was having an in-house designer. Jocelyn guided us through showrooms, helped us stay on budget, and made design choices so much easier. The crew was professional and reliable throughout the entire process. We highly recommend them to anyone considering a remodel!Posted on Google Brendan FolieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. When we bought our house, it had unrealized potential. It was functional (except for the shower that would leak water into the room below), but less than ideal -- the low ceilings in the kitchen felt cramped, the laundry obstructed the path to the backyard, which was mostly concrete slab so not inviting anyway, and the cabinets/kitchen floor/bathroom tile were from the 1960's and showing their age. Josh and his team made the house sparkle. Walls and doors were moved, ceilings were raised, foundation was reinforced, floors were leveled. For the affected rooms, everything is new aside from some original framing. It looks fantastic and feels much larger despite occupying the same footprint. What I like about working with Josh is that he has good design sense and he is unruffled. If something doesn't look right, he'll redo it. If a part is delayed, they'll adapt the schedule. We asked for some small changes and he accommodated without asking for a change order. The biggest disaster was about the kitchen sink window -- it was installed out of position and we didn't realize until cabinet installation (the official plans didn't specify the position so the team put it in the middle of the wall, but the cabinet plans required it to be 8" off center). Josh just said "we'll fix it" and they did, though it took a week. I hope to never do something like this ever again, but if I did I'd hire Josh.Posted on Google mike broadTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a full kitchen remodel… No structural walls were removed. However, the entire kitchen was gutted. (it was over 30 years old)… Red white and blue did a spectacular job… They had a project manager following every step of the way, and the workers used were talented, competent, and worked every day… My remodel was done in five weeks… I couldn’t speak more highly for red, white and blue…thank youPosted on Google Yolanda ValdiviaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Josh and his team did a good job in constructing a new bathroom, pantry/laundry room. I highly recommend their work.Posted on Google supreme patadiaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After talking to the couple of contractors, I am happy to say that I made the right choice with RWB Construction. Josh and his crew were tasked with remodeling my entire home and adding a master suite. The crew was great to work with and found creative solutions to any issues that we discovered along the way. They were respectful and attentive to my requirements. My project was completed on time, in fact a bit earlier than i anticipated. His foreman Alfredo and his crew even worked weekends and late nights when required. I am very happy with the final results and RWB construction was able to finish the project reasonably close to my budget. Highly recommend RWB Construction, great quality, timely and in budget!Posted on Google john sTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was a removal and replace of all bathroom tile in a 4th floor 1BR condo in uptown Oakland. Included bathroom floor, shower pan and walls. It's a large shower with the footprint of the former bathtub. The guys did a great job and accommodated things that were important to me, including coming up with creative ways to work around and preserve the existing custom vanity. From what i understand, RWB does some pretty big jobs, and mine was small, but i i always felt like i was getting the attention that the owner of a mansion in the hills would get. Project Manager Albert and site supervisor Luis were a pleasure to work with - professional, respectful. The workers too. Luis even took care of the downstairs neighbor's concerns about tile debris flowing down through the floor (due to the way the building was constructed each unit is literally connected). As another reviewer commented, remodeling is a pain, especially in a 1 bathroom unit. Luis and the guys tried to at least minimize trhe time period when the toilet was "offline." RWB handled all of the permitting follow ups with the City, which was a load off of my plate. Their bid was a bit lower than another one i obtained. I highly recommend RWB. I was influenced by the high ratings on Google and YELP, and those ratings are real.
EXCELLENT Based on 40 reviews Posted on Yelp Tal B.Verified I had a great experience working with Josh from Red White & Blue Construction to put in a gorgeous shower, build a staircase to connect two levels, and help me turn my storage into usable space. Josh and his team were reliable, punctual, and extremely easy to communicate with throughout the entire project. They sent updates via email and text, and explained all the nuanced details in an easy to understand way. What stood out most was their ability to problem-solve and find solutions when challenges came up, especially when working with the city of SF, which is quite a feat. Josh was approachable, dependable, and always made me feel like my questions and concerns were heard. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy contractor.Posted on Yelp Susheel B.Verified RWB know what they are doing! We had a 850 sqft story addition done that needed basement retrofit, foundation upgrade, framing, plumbing, electrical, bathroom installation, flooring, tiling and detailing work. They have a diverse crew of experts and a very personable Project manager. Josh, the owner is in constant touch and guides the process along. The crews are also very supportive of their owner which shows their work culture. I would advise any one who is looking for a decent size project or a remodel to meet up with Josh and explore working with him.Posted on Yelp Stan S.Verified We just finished a major home addition, kitchen remodel, covered patio, and HVAC modernization project with RW&B. I told Josh in our last conversation that I'll call him for the next one. I highly recommend them. There are some mechanical things about doing a major project that matter for your quality of life, on which RW&B is excellent. 1) The team is there every day. 2) Change orders are straightforward. 3) Specialists are scheduled promptly and are reliable. 4) Parts purchasing is well planned. 5) The job site is clean. 6) Communications are frequent and consolidated in the group chat. Where RW&B really stands out is design vision and finish quality. We took 5 bids for the project. We chose to go with Josh because in our first meeting, he took the time to inspect and understand the space and the opportunity. He translated our idea and improved on it--throughout the project. In the kitchen, he's the one who suggested moving the range to the other wall, freeing up the floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinets and built-in appliances we wanted. For the covered patio space, all I had was a shape and vibes. He took that roughest outline, built it out, made suggestions for the finishes, and designed the beam wraps which took it to the next level. We felt that he & the team shared our desire to build something that mattered. Living in the space now, we can't even remember the before-time. It feels so natural, and fits what we wanted exactly. Highly recommend Red White and Blue Construction.Posted on Yelp tanja c.Verified We had an excellent experience with RWB Construction on our bathroom renovation. Josh was the first person out of three we interviewed and he spent over 1h with me discussing design options and construction details. Of course, there are always some unexpected surprises when you open up an old house, but overall, the project stayed on budget and on time. I highly recommend this very professional company and look forward to making the rest of the house looks as great as the bathroom :) Bonus: the team took pictures throughout the construction and I can now review the astounding transformation in a little movie.Posted on Yelp Alan H.Verified We just completed a major home addition with Red White and Blue Construction and couldn't be more satisfied with how the whole project went. We changed our minds on a couple of things mid-build, something that can easily throw off a project, and RWB made those adjustments with minimal disruption to the schedule or budget. That kind of flexibility is hard to find. On a project this size, a few things came up along the way, and when they did, RWB was upfront about what was happening and worked to minimize the cost impact while keeping things as close to the original timeline as possible. Communication was excellent throughout. They're consistently transparent and proactive, and they follow up on anything that needs attention without you having to chase them down. What sets them apart is that they're genuinely invested in the outcome. They stand behind their work with a warranty, and it shows in how they operate. At this point we see RWB as a long-term partner. We have more work we want to do on our existing home and they'll be our first call every time. Highly recommend for anyone looking at a significant construction project.Posted on Yelp Elise G.Verified Red White & Blue recently remodeled two of our bathrooms, and we're very happy with the outcome. The team communicated constantly throughout the project, and they delivered high-quality work with 0 delays. They listened to what we wanted, handled the details really well, and kept the process smooth from start to finish. Both bathrooms are well-built, and we'd feel confident hiring them again for future projects.Posted on Yelp Sonia S.Verified We worked with Red White and Blue Construction in Berkeley on a full kitchen remodel that included removing two structural walls, adding a shear wall, and redoing the entire space. The kitchen now looks great and feels so much better to use. They gave us fair prices on all the change requests we added and came up with creative ideas whenever tricky situations came up during construction. It was a complicated project, but everything came together really well in the end. We're very happy with how it turned out.Posted on Yelp Jessie H.Verified We recently remodeled our bathroom and could not be happier. Josh and his team handled everything--plumbing, electrical, tiling, and installation--and the finished space is beautiful. One of the best parts of working with this company was having an in-house designer. Jocelyn guided us through showrooms, helped us stay on budget, and made design choices so much easier. The crew was professional and reliable throughout the entire process. We highly recommend them to anyone considering a remodel!Posted on Yelp Shin Y.Verified I've got to say, out of all the requests that I've set out to various companies, this is the only contractor who turned down the project without even bothering to see the space, request photos, or at least a phone call to clarify the details of the project. I'm well aware these projects have minimums to meet, but it's honestly pretty disappointing to see a project dismissed based on a quick message rather than taking a moment to properly assess the full scope.Posted on Yelp Michael B.Verified Red white and blue did a spectacular job remodeling my kitchen... They had a project manager following every step of the way... and the workers doing the work were skilled, hard-working, and pleasant to have around my house... My kitchen had to be completely gutted and then rebuilt, and it took a little over five weeks... Quite incredible... Thank you red white, and blue...

What are the most common upgrades homeowners choose during a remodel?
Some of the most popular upgrades during a home remodel include open-concept layouts, updated kitchens with modern cabinetry and energy-efficient appliances, bathroom transformations with walk-in showers and dual vanities, and upgraded flooring throughout. Many homeowners also choose to enhance lighting, improve storage with built-ins, or add smart home features like integrated thermostats and security systems. Our design team helps you prioritize upgrades that add the most comfort, functionality, and long-term value to your home.
How do you ensure quality control and stay on schedule during a project?
Quality and reliability are at the core of our process. Each project has a dedicated site supervisor and project manager who coordinate inspections, oversee trades, and ensure adherence to timelines and building standards. We use project management software to track progress, budgets, and client communications in real-time. Weekly updates, milestone check-ins, and a final quality walkthrough ensure everything is done right—on time and on budget.
Can you help me convert my garage or basement into a livable space or ADU?
Absolutely. Converting garages and basements into livable spaces or legal ADUs is a popular and cost-effective way to increase your home’s functionality and value. We evaluate the existing structure, ceiling height, access, foundation, and utilities to determine feasibility. Our design-build team can handle everything from code compliance and insulation to adding plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems to make the space fully habitable and permitted.
What should I prepare before starting a remodeling or construction project?
Preparation helps everything run smoothly. Before starting, you should:
- Define your goals, budget, and must-haves
- Gather inspiration or examples of styles you like
- Identify your timeline and any key deadlines (e.g., before a holiday or event)
- Clear the workspace or living areas affected by construction
- Communicate any restrictions (noise, parking, pets)
Our team will guide you through this process and provide a checklist tailored to your project to ensure you’re fully prepared.
How do I choose the right materials and finishes for my remodel?
Choosing the right materials can feel overwhelming, but we make it simple. During the design phase, we’ll guide you through curated selections based on your lifestyle, aesthetic, and budget. We consider factors like durability, maintenance, resale value, and how the materials will perform in your home’s environment. Whether you’re drawn to natural stone, engineered surfaces, sustainable hardwood, or sleek modern finishes, our team ensures every choice aligns with your vision and long-term needs.
